BMW lighting coding

Anti-dazzle high beams, custom ambient colors, welcome lights and more. In person around Orlando or remote.

Lighting features I code

BMW builds a lot of lighting options into its cars and leaves many of them switched off. Here's what owners in Central Florida ask for most:

Headlights

  • Anti-dazzle (glare-free) high beams: high beams stay on while the car shades out oncoming drivers. Needs adaptive LED or laser headlights.
  • Fog lights as cornering lights that come on when you turn at low speed.
  • Daytime running lights: brightness, rear lights on with DRLs, and the DRL dimming on the side you're signaling.

Interior and welcome lights

  • Custom ambient light colors beyond the factory set, on cars with ambient lighting.
  • Welcome and coming-home lights that come on when you unlock or walk up, with adjustable sequences.
  • Interior light timing after you lock or unlock.

Signals

  • Turn signal tap count: 3, 4 or 5 blinks on a single tap.
  • Lock and unlock flash settings.

What your car needs

Lighting features depend on the hardware your BMW came with. Anti-dazzle high beams need adaptive LED or laser headlights, and ambient colors need the ambient light package. If you've upgraded your headlights or tail lights, that's retrofit coding.

Florida law sets rules for vehicle lighting. I code factory features as BMW designed them and won't set up anything that makes your car illegal to drive on the road.
