BMW coding questions

The things people ask before booking. Still not sure? DM me.

What is BMW coding?

Coding changes your car's software settings to switch on features that are built into the car but turned off from the factory, like full-screen CarPlay, anti-dazzle high beams or start/stop memory. It doesn't add parts or change engine tuning.

Can coding be undone?

Yes. I save a backup of your car's original settings before making changes, so any feature can be set back to factory.

How long does it take?

Most sessions take 30 to 90 minutes, depending on how many features you want and your car's modules.

Will coding void my warranty?

Coding changes settings rather than hardware, and it can be set back to factory. Warranty decisions are made by BMW and the dealer, so if you're concerned, ask your dealer before coding.

Will a dealer update erase my coding?

Some software updates at the dealer can reset coded features. If that happens, DM me and I can re-apply them.

How do remote sessions work?

You connect your car to a Windows laptop with an ENET cable, and I code it over a remote connection while you watch.

Is video in motion legal?

Video in motion is for passengers. Florida law does not allow a driver to watch video while the car is moving, so only enable it if a passenger will be the one watching.

Can you turn off the seatbelt chime?

Coding can adjust the seatbelt reminder chime, which helps when you move the car around a driveway or shop. Always wear your seatbelt when driving.

Is my car compatible?

Most F and G series BMWs from about 2012 on can be coded. Features depend on your build year, software version and factory equipment, so send your year and model and I'll confirm.

What tools do you use?

BimmerCode and BimmerUtility for most features, and ISTA or E-Sys for deeper work like some retrofits.

How do I book and pay?

Send a DM to @bmwcodingfl on Instagram with your car and the features you want. I'll confirm a set price and the payment methods I accept before we book.
